The Bogey Bash was a fantastic event with networking, laughter, and exhilarating rounds of golf. Community Iftar with Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias

The Community Iftar event hosted by the Arab American Business and Professional Association (ABPA) was noteworthy. Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias commemorated this month with an official proclamation, acknowledging the rich cultural contributions of Arab Americans.

The esteemed Founder of ABPA, Talat Othman, graciously accepted the proclamation alongside board member Honorable Judge William Haddad and advisory board member Dr. Mohayya Khilfeh. This moment was met with deep honor by all present.

Chicago Alderman Iftar

Check out the highlights from the Annual Chicago Aldermanic Iftar! It was a wonderful opportunity to gather with city council members, share a meal, and forge meaningful relationships. We also had the privilege of celebrating the outstanding contributions of the 2024 Ward Warrior recipients: 33rd Ward Alderman Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez and 17th Ward Alderman David Moore. The evening was a heartfelt tribute to those who tirelessly champion equality. Look at the recap and some captivating photos from the event!


With our remarkable emPOWER 10 honorees and exciting entertainment lineup, ABPA emPOWER 2024 was a great night dedicated to celebrating women in business. 

ABPA supports Commissioner Donna Miller’s CPR Training

ABPA and Pita Inn joined forces to support Cook County’s Commissioner Donna Miller’s CPR training certification classes by sponsoring lunch for all attendees, including employees and elected representatives. Hazem Tabahi, a dedicated ABPA board member and owner of Pita Inn, generously provided catering for 100 people, while Mohammed Abdullah lent a helping hand during the lunch service. Additionally, our SBDC client Lorenzo Spearman, the owner of United Grinds Coffee, delighted everyone with delicious Hawaiian coffee.

Young Entrepreneurship Fair Recap

We’re thrilled to share the success story of our recent Young Entrepreneurship Fair, which turned out to be an incredible day for our young business owners. Featuring over 40 innovative booths, the event attracted a steady stream of patrons who enthusiastically shopped and supported these young entrepreneurs. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the judges who graced us with their presence. 

Lunch with the President

ABPA hosted a recent luncheon where members of the Arab/MENA community had the honor of engaging with Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle. President Preckwinkle provided valuable insights, emphasizing the importance of involving our community more directly in Cook County’s economic resources. 

Annual Dinner Recap: A Night of Unity

We are enthused to share the joy and success that unfolded at our recent Annual Dinner. The evening was filled with unity and a sense of accomplishment for all the work we at ABPA have put forth. From the opening remarks to the closing remarks, the night was spent establishing the Arab American/ MENA identity, honoring our honorees for the Talat Othman Excellence Award and the Amir Darwish Top Business of the Year Award, and discussing the future of ABPA and Little Palestine. A heartfelt appreciation to our generous sponsors who supported this event. Your support is invaluable, and we are grateful for your commitment to ABPA.

Back 2 School Kicks helps over 400 Students!

Back 2 School Kicks was an incredibly successful event, and we owe it all to the fantastic volunteers and sponsors who made it possible. Thanks to your hard work and dedication, we provided over 400 students with brand-new gym shoes and school bags, generously donated by The Athlete’s Foot. A special thanks to the Community Retail Association for sponsoring the event!

The Inaugural Mingle Mania welcomes local Chambers of Commerce, Small Business Owners, and Professionals to our Small Business Development Center at ABPA. Mingle Mania is an opportunity for folks to network and learn more about all the no-cost resources available at our SBDC at ABPA.

Middle East Festival 2023

It was an amazing experience this weekend at the Middle East Fest. We enjoyed the networking and the entertainment. In addition, it was a pleasure having ABPA Present Rush Darwish MC. We are looking forward to partnering with MIRA on the feature. Look at the photos!
