As the Arab American Business and Professional Association continues to diversify its Board of Directors, Marvet Sweis has been voted as the newest member to join the team. Mrs. Sweis, who is considered a rising star in the Arab American community as an attorney and organizer, just completed her term as president of the Arab American Bar Association. She serves on the Executive Board of AMVOTE PAC, is a Co-Chair on the MENA Governmental Advisory Council, and received the prestigious Top 40 Attorneys Under 40 Award by Chicago Lawyer Magazine. Marvet Sweis says she is excited to join ABPA saying “while serving as president of AABAR I worked closely with Rush Darwish and the ABPA team, they are working hard on various initiatives to mobilize and strengthen the business and professional community. I look forward to contributing to their long-term vision”. ABPA President Rush Darwish is eager to welcome talented and dynamic professionals to join the board of directors. “From day one, it was key to identify not only successful people but individuals who are committed to doing the real work to make our businesses and professional community better” Mr. Darwish said. “Marvet Sweis is one of those people who is doing real work and not just talking”.
Since 2021, the Arab-American Business and Professional Association has added a flurry of new initiatives including Federal Level internships with ABPA-DC chapter, feature Arab owned businesses with the Top Business of the Month segment, and formed the much needed Community Retail Association to advocate for retail owners in Illinois. In 2022, the momentum will continue with more programs and initiatives dedicated to promoting, empowering, and building a more united business and professional community.
