The Community Retail Association named its first Chairman of the Board since the organization launched in 2021. Long time businessman and community leader Mohammad Abdallah was voted by the CRA Board to take the organization to new heights. Mr. Abdallah brings over 25 years of experience in retail, real estate, and is becoming a rising star as a civic leader in Chicago. A Co-founder of CRA, Abdallah will be tasked to build the membership base along with continuing the CRA’s core mission to form stronger relationships with neighborhood residents where member stores are located. “I am honored to become the first ever Chairman of CRA” said Abdallah. “To be part of this organization that serves the community such as our Back2School Kicks Chicago event is something I am very proud of. “I look forward to growing the CRA and introducing new members to our group and continue giving back”.
The CRA has been progressive since its inception in October 2021 holding face to face meetings with elected officials including Mayor Lori Lightfoot and her business team and providing resources for the Economic Development Center in Palos Heights due to officially open in early 2023. ABPA/CRA President Rush Darwish is excited to see the growth for the CRA. “We have seen steady progress for this organization since we launched but we need a fresh voice and leader who has a proven record to connect with retailers”. Without a doubt Mohammad is the man for this job” Darwish said. Mr. Abdallah will serve a one-year term followed by a 3-year term via a vote by the CRA board.
