ABPA Introduces Arab Sharks Pitch Competition – Empowering Illinois Entrepreneurs

A coalition of business leaders and the SBDC at Arab American Business and Professional Association (ABPA) is proud to announce the launch of the Arab Sharks in Illinois Pitch Competition, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to empowering and investing in Illinois-based entrepreneurs.

This innovative competition, inspired by the Shark Tank format, aims to showcase and support the next generation of business leaders by providing a platform to pitch their ideas to prominent Arab American investors and business leaders. The event, organized by the Arab American Business and Professional Association (ABPA), will be hosted at Little Palestine, IL in July 2025.

The Arab Sharks Pitch Competition will feature a diverse panel of investors representing various industries, offering participants the opportunity to secure funding, mentorship, and strategic partnerships. Early-stage startups from across Illinois will present innovative business concepts spanning technology, healthcare, retail, AI, and more.

“The Arab Sharks in Illinois competition is about more than just pitching a business—it’s about creating opportunities for economic growth, innovation, and representation,” said Rami Aljbour, Director of the Small Business Development Center at ABPA. “We are committed to elevating entrepreneurs and connecting them with the resources they need to succeed.”

Applications for the competition will open on May 12, 2025, with selected entrepreneurs receiving pitch coaching and mentorship in preparation for the live event. The competition is expected to attract widespread interest from investors, business leaders, and the broader Illinois community.
